Samsung 2233GW screen problem - display disappearing

I have a Samsung 2233GW screen which is behaving oddly. The image displays completely after only a second of viewing - for example, if I power it on, the image displays but turns itself off after about 1 second. The screen is completely blank. Pressing any of the buttons on the right-hand side produces no effect, apart from the on-off button as described above. During the brief period when the screen does display, the bottom right hand quadrant of the screen is clearly brighter than the other three quadrants. If I connect the screen to a laptop and cycle through the functions to display the image, it does the same one-second display. It's clear the internal electronics are not working. Any suggestions as to solving the problem or recommendations of someone within larger Cape Town area who can fix it ?

How old is it? Sammy's have 3 year warranties. Think CRT may just be the place, as mentioned above. Forget where I went with mine in Montague Gardens.
