Anyone know where I can find this lcd? I know wantitall has it but it is a bit expensive 3,6k and take2 can also order it from amazon but it stil 2,9K there.
Anyone know of a less expensive place maybe?
reason for wanting this lcd...2048x1152(QWXGA) resolution it would go nicely with my sli setup am running at the moment.

So if you really want that specific model that means that budget is secondary. first you have to determine the normal average selling price and then decide if the unit is expensive or well priced. Then if the well priced unit is still out of the budget range then you have to reconsider the model or get whatever is available for the budget. There are No PC equipment charity organizations that I know off.

The best price seem to be R2000.00 + Vat + Shipping + Profit! Unless you have friends coming from abroad to bring one in for you.

You're not going to get something unique and specific at the price of something local and popular. So if you must have it now and cannot wait for it to be locally available then you'll just need to pay the price.

You could ofcourse wait for it to be available here and see where local pricing winds up.

Am not sure if it will ever became local as it was released in feb last year already.Looks to me if i want that screen I will have to pay the price.

You're prepared to pay a nearly 60% premium, just to have a SLIGHTLY higher res?

Seems a bit of overkill to me.

I'd do it if it wasn't just a TN panel. However, for the money you can get a couple of full-HD screens locally. The resolution is a bonus, but I usually prefer more rows than columns, ie. 16:10 over 16:9.

It's still a 16:9 screen. Which makes me wonder how a full-HD 1920x1080 movie would look like on it. It's going to add in some very odd effects.

I wouldn't be surprised, given the brand name of the thing.

Just a bit curious as to whether we're going to be seeing more of them. I see they both use the same Samsung TN panel. I think there's a host of other manufacturers who use Samsung panels, but don't think any of them are available locally. We're pretty limited to Samsung and LG panels.

Perhaps HP might use this Samsung panel. Can't recall now if they LG stuff most of the time.
