Hi guys

I have a Samsung 2TB internal drive (HD204UI). The drive was giving me problems and was making funny noises so I went to Samsung site and i was redirected to a seagate's site where i was prompted to download the SeaTools Drive Diagnostics software.

I ran the test and it found all kinds of errors. It gave me an option to check the drives warranty and the drive is still under warranty till Dec2013.
Now they gave me an option on the site to return the drive and they will send me a new one, the only problem with this is all the return addresses is either in Europe or in the USA. I need to send them the drive first before they send a replacement.

My Question is, is there a place locally (samsung/seagate) agent that will honor this warranty, don't know where the drive was bought as i got it as a gift long time ago?

Any help will be appreciated

Stand under correction here but suppliers generally need that serial number be on their system and invoiced in most cases. Best bet is to have a friend or ask nicely here for someone to check in PM if it is listed and they might just help out otherwise you have enough time to send it in and get a new one since it doesn't sound like you need any data on it.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Rectron exchanged a Seagate drive for me that was under warranty.
It was not purchased from them, so I had to pay a "handling fee" around R150 or so.

Just find out which distributor the drive came from (serial#) and let them handle it.
