I'm switching to a 32" 4K monitor as my screen for software development. The availability of proper monitors is placing all the recommended IPS panels out of my budget (R10K).

The Samsung M7 is one option as it comes in at the best price and I can deligate as a TV screen in the future:

The M7 is VA and R6300 at Samsung * Sold Out
- R7K at IC who still have stock

I understand with VA panels that viewing angle can cause problems with colour but I look at striaght at my monitor. Currently use a Dell SE2419H and not had any issues.

What other 32" options do developers use?

I use the M7 @ 125% scaling, as 2x portrait monitors, no issues my side. I sit in the middle of my monitor, sometimes lean a little to the left for video calls (camera centred over the left "screen"), no issues with viewing angles, but it isnt great outside the field of view

I did replace the stand with an arm though.

would recommend this monitor.

i will NEVER go back to multi-monitor

Running 3 Dell P2719HC’s fit my workflow perfectly. 2 screens normally running IDEs other running terminal or browser. 4th laptop screen for teams and outlook.

Other factor is they draw 15w each so get a full draw of around 50 odd watts on my inverter during load shedding. Which was one of the reasons I chose this model apart from USB C connectivity.

Thank you for your first-hand experience. I did see online reviewers all complained about the pathetic base and a quality arm is worth it.

I also sit in the of monitor.

I bought one of those chinese generic arms of takealot - https://www.takealot.com/nb-north-bayou-single-arm-adjustable-monitor-desk-mount-stand/PLID54551053

I dont move my monitor at all, but I did get it to a good height and tilt that works for both sitting and standing. It has not moved in the year I have had it

Have you though about waiting for the M8? Was released in March but don't think it's available locally yet. I'm in a similar position, really want to upgrade my 24" Dell. Do you use Windows/Linux or macOS?

Edit: actually see the M8 is quite a bit more expensive than the M7
