Samsung 43E450 DTS / DD Audio passthrough

I have the Sammy 43E450 connected to a Pace 4 tuner HD PVR via HDMI. When I connect the digital audio out (Toslink) from the PVR to my AVR the AVR receives the correct DTS / Dolby Digital 5.1 signal. However, when I connect the digital audio out (Toslink) from the TV to my AVR the AVR only receives a standard stereo signal. Is there a setting I can change so that the TV will output a 5.1 signal, or is this a limitation on the TV I'm going to have to live with?

The TV can only output a 5.1 signal from it's own media player, anything going in via hdmi is going to come out as Stereo.

What Lupus said. And no, it's not a limitation of the TV. It's a very nasty limitation of the HMDI specifications, all HDMI devices are legally required to follow them. Passthrough can only be in stereo. It's some copy-protection BS to prevent people from bypassing HDCP.

So I guess that means I'm in the market for a good value AVR with HDMI inputs. Anybody want to swop theirs for my current Yamaha AVR? :erm:

On a serious note, any suggestions? It should have at least 100W per channel.
