This morning my sister was searching for a new TV when she noticed Samsung.com was advertising a 50" for a whopping R7.50!!

At first she suspected this was some kind of scam but the more she look at it the more she realised it was legit. Anyway she went ahead and ordered the TV, paid R7.50 and got an invoice for the TV with the price still listing R7.50. The ordered stayed processing for most of the morning until she got a call from Samsung to saying they cannot fulfil her order as there was a mistake on their system.

They then went ahead and cancelled her order and have not refunded her as yet.

Question, can one take this further or is it not worth it?

No.

If it's an obvious mistake they reserve the right to cancel the order.. Same happened with game a few days back whete they were selling a case of savannahs for R7. 50

The funny thing is this was displayed on their site as a "Special Offer"! What a special it could have been!

Could be someone hacking their systems and changing prices...

But it would be great to have picked up a 50" Samsung for R7.50

I remember I took a chance with an error like this many years ago … and the manager was pissed off! I expected a reversal / refund and but didn’t expect the manager to be such a ********.

It was an online hifi store with many sets of speakers being listed at R0.00. So, I bought one and tried to check out … But wouldn’t let me checkout with a zero value.

So I added a R6,000 amplifier, paid and waited to see what happened.

The next day he phones ‘thanks for the order. Just want to confirm the delivery for the amplifier?’ … I asked him about the rest of the order and only then he tells me he ignored the speakers and I was stupid to add them because I knew it was an error. He was going ahead with the amplifier only.

I told him to cancel the amplifier and rather refund, as well as point out all the other zero value items in the store. He was super pissed I cancelled the amplifier and dragged his heels on a refund.

I did the same on some Xbox games marked at 10c on Hifi corp, they actually allowed it through as I didn't go ape and order 50, the manager said they cancelled all orders over 1, I was the only person who actually only ordered one.

When Kalahari was in business a few years back, I put a TV into the basket but didn't pay as I was thinking of adding more items

The next day an email arrived thanking me for my payment. The TV arrived 4 days later

I called them and told them about their mistake. A lady told me to deposit R8250,00 into their account and gave me a reference number

A few weeks later I looked at "My Account" page and this R8250 was shown as a credit. A few more phone calls later made no difference

Some 3 or 4 months later I ordered some more goods. I did not have to pay as the credit was still there. It took over a year to work through this credit
