Been thinking of getting a 19" for a while now and I've come accross the Syncmaster 19" 940BF. Incredible Corruption have it R2 500 but you get R 500 off if you trade in your monitor.

The monitor I've been looking at for my Christmas gift to myself :D is the Samsung 932BF 19 inch going for R2 332.

So which is the better deal?

940BF

19” LCD display
1280 x 1024 maximum resolution
300 Nits brightness
700:1 contrast ratio
Ultra low 2ms response time
Analogue & DVI input
3 Year warranty

932BF

SAMSUNG 19" TFT LCD , 1280 x 1024, 0.285(PP), 300 cd/m² 500:1, 2ms Response Time, 15pin D-sub input, DVI-D input (D-sub cable supplied), 160 degree viewing angle.

IMHO 22" should be the benchmark for personal use! Even at the "not so bad" extra expensw. The gains compared to 19" is IMHO worth it!

Can these two monitors support a refresh rate of 75hz?

Refresh rates are not applicable to LCDs AFAIK because LCDs don't "flicker". Just look at the contrast ratio (higher is better) and native res (higher is better).

Also, why not go for a 22" widescreen like NoADSLyet syas, trust me, you'll never go back.

Yeah but I play games with vsync on. That caps the FPS at the "refresh rate" that they use for compatibility issues IIRC. The higher the cap the less chance of slow down supposedly.

Oh and 22" is to expensive :o

Some adverst vfor 22" came in not much higher priced than 19"

The LCD response time is to be looked at. A 2-5 sec is the best for gaming at only a small extra price penalty.

Sell your monitor to Cash Crusaders for R100 to R150 (if it's a crappy 15" , can get anything up to R350 if it's a 19" CRT)

ASUS 22" R2699

Samsung 2232GW - R2826

Now if you take the ASUS, you have R2699 - R150 = R2549
compare this to :
The monitor I've been looking at for my Christmas gift to myself is the Samsung 932BF 19 inch going for R2 332.
R2549 - R2332 = R217

BELIEVE ME you'll be sorry if u buy yourself a 19" , and two days later waste the other R300 taking your wife/gf to dinner etc... Rather save up for another month then and get a 22"
