I'm thinking about buying this TV but I found this, which is making me think otherwise.

The image retention is normal, and over long time of viewing any static (unmoving) image, some temporary retention is considered normal. Over the long term, it may develop into permanent retention, or burn-in if you're not viewing content in-between the program or movie that is causing the static image.

Assuming that you're watching other programs between the scoreboard viewing, you may still have retention, but you'll be lowering your chances of having it permanent. It's hard to determine if the image will disappear quicker.
