For the first time in Korea, desktop PC with 1 terabyte (TB) hard disk drive will be released.
Samsung Electronics (CEO: Jong Yong Yun) is expected to release desk-top PC with Hitachi GST’s 1TB 3.5 inch HDD ‘Deskstar 7K1000’ as early as next month.
1 terabyte, 1024 gigabyte (GB), can hold approximately 500 movie files, 250,000 MP3 files, and can save up to 250 hours of HD videos.
Desktop PC with 1TB HDD is the first after Dell’s subsidiary AlienWare released a product that can be mounted on PC last March in the US market.
Samsung Electronics PC Business R&D Team has been extensively working on the compatibility and reliability issues of ‘Deskstar 7K1000’, and has approved the release of the product. Samsung Electronics has not yet begun manufacturing and will begin manufacturing while monitoring for the right time in the PC market.
An official at Samsung Electronics said, “We have recently conducted research and development task on the desktop PC with Hitachi 1TB HDD, and the price of the 1TB HDD is currently too high for the market, so we are waiting for the right time to begin manufacturing the product.”
The price of the 3.5 inch HDD ‘Deskstar 7K1000’ that Hitachi GST released last March is in the latter half range of 300 US dollars.
