Hi there.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy A71. Currently in SA, the software only goes up to Android 11 / One UI 3.1. However, the rest of the world is on Android 13 with this phone. I'd like to get it onto Android 13 and obviously the only way to do it is to get another non-sa version and update it manually. (Flash or whatever you call it).

I just have a few questions:

1. Is there anyone here with the same phone that has done this? What was your experience and which one did you use?
2. What are the things that could be an issue if I go this route?
3. Any other advice.

Thanks

Who is your carrier?

Check here, https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/

Dont know what SKU you have but A715F has XVF (Vodacom Firmware) for android 13.

You sure you checked for updates while you have a vodacom sim in and on Wifi?
I've checked with wifi on and with Vodacom sim on (wifi off). Still says my phone is up to date, which is from June 2021. Not sure what SKU is... SM-A715F is the model number.

Even if I connect to Smart Switch, it gives me an update, but from what I can see, it's just an update of PDA ending BUF1, which is July 2021.

warranty is for Chumps anyway,

where Id start:

not in their best interests to let you upgrade your software,

check my post above on where to root it and load an unshackled version of Android.

If you want to stick with a warranty on your device, following the sammobile thing like @Rickster mentioned would be the safest. I've updated a LOT of my Samsung devices this way. If you don't mind voiding the warranty, you can follow the XDA thing, like @Jet-Fighter7700 mentioned

agreed, but if the warranty has expired, give rooting a go, the possibilities are endless.
still holding on to a 5yr old S9 this way, running Android 13, with monthly security updates.

I've thought about getting a different ROM for my S22 ultra, but it's still under warranty. Will wait before I root it until then

bookmark the S22 XDA page,
or take a look at this ROM

I think if I go the rooting root, I'll practice on my old S9. If I stuff that up, then no biggy.
this is what I'm using on my S9,

join the telegram groups, read the notes and give it a bash, worth it.
