Got one from vodacom online. Had it three days, then the problems started. The google search window kept popping up while i was using the internet on the phone. Both the google search window with the qwerty keyboard, and the google search window with the search history.
while busy with whatsapp, the menu window keeps popping up.
when the phone is lying quietly on the table, on the home screen, the menu keeps popping up.
thus, after 33 minutes of holding, being passed around, and a clueless operator, vodacom decided to exchange to phone.
awesome.
new phone arrives. i had to re-install all my apps, since there is no option to back-up apps in the PC companion. thus, spent several megs of data on installing whatsapp, skype, etc again.
three days into new phone, it start with exactly the same story.
i do a hard reboot back to factory settings, and as soon as it reboots, it does it again.
i only installed whatsapp again. and things went well for a day or two, then again, back to square one.
phoned vodacom again, and i was told to go to samsung shop, they need to install a firmware update.
so off to vodaworld i go.
samsung shop in vodaworld cant help me, so off to vodacom repairs shop.
they take the phone, and tells me, it will take three hours to install required software or whatever. it is now three days later. supposedly, the phone has been sent to samsung to get the software uploaded.
i am stuck with the pathetic loan phone they gave me. which has no camera, no internet, no mms, thus, no email.
in my mind, if samsung has to re-upload the the software, then all phones they are selling, are all going to have the same issue, and every customer is going to have issues. not good.
i started using my old phone again, a banged up sony ericsson, so that i can at least check my mail and do business.
so, don't bother with the Galaxy Gio, there is obviously something very wrong with it.
