Would be a tough call between this and the HTC EVO 3D!

According to a pretty reliable Korean website, Samsung is working on a 3D phone running on Android. It should be called Samsung Galaxy 3D and will be a direct competitor of LG's Optimus 3D and HTC's EVO 3D.

Well, this is hardly a surprise and honestly, we expected to hear such rumors a lot earlier. The LG Optimus 3D has been recently released, the GSM HTC EVO 3D is on the way while Samsung has still got no 3D smartphone.
If ETNews is to be trusted, the Galaxy 3D will pack specs much similar to those of the Galaxy S II - a 4.3-inch 3D screen, the same Exynos chipset with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, dual 8 megapixel cameras and will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread or later. The Galaxy 3D will be also capable of displaying 3D content directly on a 3DTV via its TV-out connection.

As the rumor has it, the Galaxy 3D should premiere Q4 this year.

Kingrob - why are you doing this to me! You are not playing nice! I need a phone and I need it now! Already I'm thinking if I made the right decision with the Galaxy S2 (waiting for delivery) - some still think the Sensation is better, and coming from the Desire HD, I hope I don't regret it.

So stop looking at phones till next year please! I beg you ;)

It will never stop, Shads. :(

I accidentally stumbled upon this one & because of my big love for 3D, I'm gonna wait.

The Evo 3D will only be launched in September (I think), so I've got one more month to go & not in a hurry. BUT....November/December will see the release of the first quad-core mobile phones, so just two more months to go after September?

Good things come to those who wait. :)

Then when the HTC 3D comes out, then I'll say I'll wait for the quad core. I can upgrade middle next year again. 10 months to go. So the Galaxy will be fine till then ;)

hehe.....the Galaxy S2 is a powerhouse phone & I know you'll be happy with it for much longer than two years. ;)

If you're like me and want to test drive the latest phone every year, you need two contracts, otherwise it becomes a bit too expensive.

I do own two contracts :) that's why I upgrade every year. Its awesome. But my second phone is a blackberry, so I don't get too excited for that - BB's suck! Just like the free e-mail, BBM and internet on the go

It is nice! Especially when Vodacom or MTN's network takes a nose-dive.

I just could never get into the BB craze, although a lot of my friends have them. It is a sub-standard phone, except for the Torch, but even Torch owners complain that there's no apps for their expensive phones.

And you can't compare a BB against any modern day phone, it's just too embarrassing.

I really wanted the Galaxy SII but then I heard rumours of the possible quad core phones by year end. We will see what the rumours are by the time this Samsung 3D gets released but I am hoping that a combination of quadcore and 3D will be in the making. That would just do it for me! 3D would be cool to have as well though. There is such a smartphone bubble in the rate that the phones have been advancing in the last year and half that I know if I buy one now and next month there will be something cooler. Even keeping a phone for 12 months is getting difficult with all the new ones being released at such a rapid pace. I hate 24 month contracts.
