Hi guys,

My father got this phone yesterday, nice phone! It says that the phone has a-gps but I'm not sure which app to use? Anybody care to help me please. Also, what other tips do you have for this phone?

Thanks

You have Google Maps pre-loaded onto the phone, with the South African mapset already installed.
Walk & Drive is also installed.
I have not really used any of the GPS apps, as I prefer to use my Garmin. Handy to have as a backup though.

You will find that there are 7 homepages installed. You will hardly ever be able to fill all of them.
My suggestion would be to delete the blank pages. (You can always install more pages as you need them.)

I also removed the Contacts icon from the taskbar, and replaced it with the Settings icon.
There is a contacts icon in the phone dialler, so having another on the taskbar seemed to be a wasteful duplication.

This phone makes no sense! Why can't I save any messages(sms)? The one gps keeps telling me I need a license to use it(thought it was free). And when I add speed dailing and try to use it, it tells me USSD code running and then "connection problem or invalid MMI code"??? WTF?

Sorry for all the questions.

sms's automatically get saves as conversations, the same as on the SGS2.
Go to Messaging, then select a conversation, and the entire string of SMS's will appear.
You can also use Talk & Go to send and receive SMS's.

Once your speed dials are saved, you need to "press and hold the location number briefly."
It sometimes throws an USSD error when the tap and hold was not long enough.

Can't give you an answer on the GPS, sorry.

By using Kies or Kies Air, you should be able to save the entire conversation strings on your PC, memory card or location that you choose.

The market is dodgy. Free does not mean free at all times.
1. Free as in free.
2. Free, but with ads (that require internet access)
3. Free, but actually a try before buy.
4. Free, but limited (can be upgraded to paid).

Mostly it's stated in the description or comments. Always read the comments (you will notice lots of app crash complaints, but remember the apps crash if you push the phone (by not closing unused apps or letting them run for days)). I take crash comments with a pinch of salt.
