I just moved over to android, which i must say is amazing!

I have done some reading online, about battery saving tips which are useful.
Just wanted to know if some of the android battery saving apps actually work??

Or is it better sticking to the norm for settings etc, 3g off, wifi off..

thanks

Since I upgraded to ICS my battery lasts quite a bit longer. I have also turned off touch sounds, screen lock sounds and location services. I used better battery stats to determine that those services were causing crap.

There are tons of apps. Juice Defender comes to mind. BetterBatteryStats tells you which apps are using your phone's CPU the most.

Juice Defender has been superb for me.
I'm using the free version. A friend using Pro says the location based wifi activation saves him major battery

What kind of battery life do you get now compared to previous?

All the battery save apps do is regulate and automate manual means of saving battery like turning WiFi off and so on.
