I paid R699*24 months for my S10e from 2019 (R16776)
This is R499*36 months for the S22 (R17964)

Also, the S10e gave me an extra year of use (running it for ~36 months now). Effectively I paid R466pm and that number decreases the longer I use it.

Are both overpriced as devices? Probably.

But not such a big difference between the two in terms of price.
 
still dont get the trend of 3 cameras, 4 cameras and all the additional bits and bobs they keep putting on these phones.
I mean whats wrong with making the camera "module" modular, when they release better optics snap your camera out, and put a new one in,
when Batteries become better, put a new one in, when chipsets get better put a new one in.

why release a phone that's marginally better than the S21?
I mean even a "ancient" s9 is still good enough for many, so what can they tack on to make money.

In addition to offering extended One UI upgrades, Samsung will now provide up to five years of security updates to help protect select Galaxy devices. These updates — when paired with Samsung’s award-winning defense-grade security platform Samsung Knox — give Galaxy devices more secure end-to-end protection against potential security threats. On top of that, Samsung Galaxy Enterprise Edition customers will receive a one-year license for Samsung Knox Suite solutions to easily deploy and manage devices with access to a dashboard that tracks security updates and more.

Any reason to upgrade from my S8? Other than the S22 being almost exactly the same size? I don't want a phone that is bigger than my S8
 
I suppose Graham Tell also had an expensive phone back in the day. I'm quite happy with the R3k phones thanks. That R500 can buy me enough beers to drown my sorrows of not owning a flagship phone

Glad Samsung finally consolidated the Note and S range with S22 Ultra, as the Foldables become the new “Ultra Premium/innovation” bases for them.

But now this begs the question what is the Z Fold 4 bringing, if they make the Z Fold 4 front screen wider and gave a periscope + 5000mAh battery I would kick myself if I got S22 Ultra.

Looking forward to the full on S22 Ultra reviews, I see all the YouTubers have Hands On stuff up right now.
 
I see the S22 has a lower ppi (425) than my S8 (570). Is this difference really not noticeable? Why did they go to such a high ppi in the first place?

I know of such a phone, and wish they would sell it here locally,

Fairphone 4, that is built like a phone should be built,
better camera comes out, clip it in, battery flat and not holding charge, remove it yourself and change it.
screen cracked, change it yourself.

but where would the profit be? for this incremental upgrade to a pretty good phone already.
so all the s21's are still very good phones for many years afterwards. but Samsung "must" sell you something to slap a 2 on it.
