Samsung Galaxy S4

Yea I think I might just try a non samsung rom this weekend. Pure nexus maybe.

Good choice!
I'm using this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
Specifically: Pure Nexus Edition build here- using Googy kernel

Changed from KT to Googy kernel, getting better results with Googy. KT started getting buggy for me. Very very happy with my phone, runs so smoothly, no niccups at all.
Just load in your preferred launcher, file manager, TB etc etc apk's into system/app folder using 7zip before you flash - remember, no spaces in the file names.

Good grief!!!
3hours!? That is awful, no way that is normal, I use my S4 heavily for web browsing, FB, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp and music and it lasts much longer than 3hours, my On Screen time is between 3h30-6hours with about 10-15hours Off charge.

What were you doing? Check if your battery is swollen.

Here's an example of me with heavy usage on my S4 I9500:
/snip

I checked my battery a while ago and it wasn't swollen. It does it get very hot though...

That was just using whatsapp/Facebook/tapatalk/etc while at work. :(

Could it be a rogue app that's draining the power? But then it would show in the battery usage window wouldn't it?

Do you have GPS/Location enabled? Also how bright is your display?

It maybe a rogue app, or one of your social apps trying to find your location eg. Facebook.

I'd suggest getting the app Greenify, it allows you to close apps that tend to run automatically in the background, that should help a lot. Also just look around at your apps especially those that update themselves at intervals e.g. Twitter, set them to update every 4hours.

GPS is switched off. Screen is at full brightness. Doesn't greenify require root?

Greenify has a non-Root mode, I'm using it on my unrooted S4.
Your display brightness is part of the problem, at full brightness and looking at mostly white web pages will have it guzzling a lot of juice, SuperAMOLED aren't so efficient when displaying the colour White and that is why it also tends to heat up.

Good day all!

Has anyone here run darthstalker on their Galaxy S4 GT-I9500?

I cant seem to find a version of darthstalker built for my version of the S4.

Oh and thanks for the greenify tip iv just finished downloading it, and got it doing its thing!

Works great.

But it did ask me for root permission.

I like a bright screen though :p
I'll try Greenify...

SailoRboB

No problem :)
Yep, it does that and when it sees you are not rooted it goes into its non-Rooted mode. If it continues to ask for Root hit the Menu button -select Experimental Features -untick the top option.

Lol! Yep, I get it, at Full brightness the SuperAMOLED is simply stunning, very hard to turn down brightness. I suggest turning On Power Save Mode in Settings- My Device -Power Saving Mode, that should also help reduce heat and power usage.

Yep the one I had my eye on. Was going to use ktoonsez but tried googy instead based on your recommendation. Very impressed so far. Lost 1% battery between midnight and 7am.

The screen is at 80% which tells me you've been using the phone heavily since the full charge. My S5 is the same. I can get 2 days off the battery with normal use but if I use it for a lot of YouTube or any activity that requires a lot of screen use, the battery drains like mad.

Also is this user on radio or on wifi? I find on wifi I have double the battery life as on the 3g radio...

I just ordered the official GS4 Faux leather back from eBay. It's R202 including shipping for those interested. I'm hoping it will give the phone an overall more premium feel and make it less slippery.

It should look like this:

Black edition cover.
Personally I prefer a full protection cover like the casemate tough.

Kies no longer works with my custom rom . What can I use to sync with Outlook?
