Samsung Galaxy S5

Two years on, my S5 is still blazing fast and does everything I need but one thing needs a change and that's the battery. Samsung store wants to charge me R580 for a replacement and I see this on takealot. Think it's reliable or should I just fork out?

If you're keeping for at least a year, go original. If only for a few months, take the Duracell
 
My sons S5 has stopped taking a charge. Anyone come across this issue and do you think a battery change will fix it?

How old is the battery? If its the original OEM unit then its time to change IMO. Also, cheapest way to troubleshoot vs. giving over to repair center to evaluate.

I'm at my wits end with this phone and charging cables. It seems to eat them alive. I don't know if the power draw is too high or I just buy cheap cables but the copper inside these cables breaks and I have to chuck the cable. Anyway, that has made me look at the wireless charging options for the S5. Namely the QI pads that connect direcly to the wireless charging pins next to the battery. Anyone using this or have any experince with these?

If the wireless charging experience is anything like it is on my S6, you'll find that your charge lasts a lot longer but it is significantly slower (i.e. it's fine for over night but forget about during the day top-ups).

Maybe usb3 cable?

Lol I'm sitting with a s5 loan phone, waiting for my adh return on my S7.
 
So I had a mate bring me some goodies from the UK and now my S5 has wireless charging. Got one of those aftermarket pads that connect to the s5's wireless charging pins under the cover. Now I've come across a very puzzling issue that seems to be software and not harware related. The phone stops charging at 70% on wireless but charges up to 100% plugged in. I have cleared my partition cache and all but it completely refuses to charge past 70%. I charged it up to 75% on cable and put it on the wireless pad. It starts then pauses. I'm not sure if this is a software glitch or maybe battery risistance becomes too much (probably not) but I cannot solve this one.
