Samsung Galaxy S5

Finally got marshmallow on the H version of my S5. Wow this phones battery life is now amazing but the phone feels extremely unstable. Apps take forever to load in or just hang. App switching is stupid slow and notifications lag. I wonder if it's worth doing a factory reset?

Sometimes it's a nice, fresh start. Settings and data are synced and should download after setting up accounts. Just a matter of installing apps again, which can be a bit of a pain. And making sure data/photos are backed up (manually or otherwise) before resetting.

try to wipe the cache partition.I find that works 9 out of 10 times if phone slow after an update.
- turn phone off, then hold power, volume up and menu button
- phone will vibrate and will boot into the menu
- use volume key to scroll up and down
- highlight the wipe the cache partition option and press power key to select.
- will run for a minute or 2 then goes back to previous menu, them select the reboot option
- phone will boot as normal
- hopefully phone is faster if not factory reset

Thanks for the tip! I actually did this with lollipop and it made a huge difference. I have just completed the process now it everything seems to be snappier :) may have just saved me a reset!
 
So the Marshmallow update on my G900H broke Call Recorder so badly that many of my outgoing calls give the receiver scrambled voice like I am running an angle grinder on my side. Press MUTE on my handset and the receiver's earpiece goes crystal quiet. Disable MUTE and the angle grinder returns.

I disabled Call Recorder and all is well. Flip! I have been cursing Vodacom for 2 weeks since I updated to MM as I thought it was a network issue.
 
Anyone experiencing Alarm not functioning properly after Marshmallow update?
It's a weird issue...sometimes the alarm will sound, mostly it just get's silenced - "automagically"

Could it be the new powersaving "features"?

I do run the Situations App, but that functioned 100% prior to Marshmallow.
Put's phone on vibrate after a certain time in the evening, but as mentioned, alarm always worked.

Using ACR recorder by NLL apps - working like a charm.
 
Switched from S5 to P8 lite (Telkom deal of the month). Don't do it. Just don't.

I nearly pulled the trigger on a P9lite or Moto G4 Plus 2 weeks ago, but after reading tons of reviews, the overall package inside the S5 is far superior to any sub R6k phone. Plus, I still have 2x ADH valid for the next 11 months so I intend keeping my S5. Rock solid, great camera and able to swap out the battery with a fully charged spare in 60sec flat.
 
"Sim card not present" error once yesterday and once this morning. Read that the sim card holder can stretch over time and prevent the sim from being properly pushed down on the connecton pins.

Anyone ever had this error?

Stick something in behind the sim card to push it down.
