It is a jig. It is used to access download mode to flash firmware, radios, etc. You would use it if the phone is unresponsive (bricked or soft bricked). Sometimes when you flash a bad download, it won't switch on and if you can't get into recovery or download mode, you are stuffed. Then, you plug in this little bugger and it boots immediately into download mode. Then you can flash with Odin. Inside is a 301k resistor.

EDIT: And it removes the yellow triangle on rooted Samsung phones.

Hi

Have noticed that everytime I enable USB debugging the removable device in Windows is removed. As soon as I disable it, it returns, please could you assist.

Wanted to restore some apps using helium. Worked on my home pc.

are you rooted? as far as I know you don't need the usb debugging. Also, I've only used helium once, and it seemed that the best was to restore from an sd card.

USB mode must just be set to mass storage (i think)

My USB debugging is enabled all the time. I don't have this problem.

I am a TB user myself. Helium looks nice though - will check it out in future. I do however like to use my phone without plugging it into a PC. All wireless for me. You can try Airdroid to transfer files - I don't know how well this will work with Helium (if at all), but Helium would have a folder somewhere from which you would be able to copy the apks to your pc or alternatively just use ES File explorer over wifi

My USB mode is set to MTP. Aharon can perhaps try to just change the setting from PTP to MTP. When plugged into a PC, pull down on the notifications and select "Connected as a media device" and select MTP.

Thanks Bud. I tried both MPT and PTP, didn't work. Seems to be something with the drivers. Anyways, managed to get it going on my home PC :)

Glad you are sorted on your home PC. But have a look anyway at Airdroid if you have not already. I use it almost on a daily basis.
 
My phoned drained something terrible last night. I checked in BBS and could not find anything out of the ordinary, but I saw the mobile network signal was brownish grey. Not the normal green colour and I didn't think anything of it at the time. It puzzled me since the previous night the drain was acceptable. Then I remembered that I tested LTE on Sunday and never switched back to WCDMA/GSM after testing. So it would seem that last night the LTE network sucked ballz. I normally have both my wifi and mobile data on so the phone can switch as appropriate and because my wifi was on on Sunday evening the drain was normal. So here is the moral of the story - your phone will drain like a soup kitchen if you are not in an area with proper LTE and if your phone is set to LTE/WCDMA/GSM.

Interesting.

Stupid question though. If you set your phone to WCDMA/GSM hence switching off LTE, does it make a difference if you keep the apn as 'lte' or would you have to go back to the old 'internet' one?

You don't need the "internet" apn at all. I even ran my S2 on the "lte" apn
