Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 question

hi so my fiancee got me the tab on contract today and i was just wondering a few things.

1. How do i check my data remaing because there is no dialer pad?
2. Can i get a dialer pad?
3. I loaded a 30 mb bundle and i downloaded a few apps prob around 5mb, and i did a bit of browsing, then i get an sms saying i only have 3mb remaining???
4. The contract is the 500mb a month one, is there a way to put a block so that when the data is used up i dont get charged additional data charges?

Those 'few apps' will have overheads etc when downloading, ie. an app might be 1.0 MB, but the total download for the app may be 1.1 MB and the upload 0.2 MB, therefore total of 1.3MB etc.

Browsing in a full capability browser also chews a lot of bandwidth, you can use a bandwidth monitor on a PC to see this very easily.

3G is a very expensive means of connecting to the internet. R185 for 500mb. (Data ONLY)
500mb would be suitable for very low usage, ie. reading emails, occasional news etc.
500mb over a month is about 16 MB per day, which isn't much.

I use cloud backups, manage files on web servers, surf the net, stream video off youtube, TED etc. and I use between 1GB and 5GB a day in general over four computers, just to put things in perspective.

Yea i dont see this 500mb lasting very long rofl.

Oh and i found out how to check my data balance, i just went to the vodacom website and clicked my account and it logged me in automatically showing me want i needed to see.

I have got a data monitor but it doesnt look like its tracking properly as i have used 50mb and its doesnt even reflect 2 mb usage.

Is there any monitor in spe ific that i should use, im using "Traffic Monitor" now
 
No monitor app will work on the tab 10.1, also tried a few with no luck.

Spoke to Samsung just now, and they verified that the new kernel is currently in development. So maybe soon 3G Wather will work 100%.

Traffic counter extended is very nice, but also does not show, 3G data count.
 
Only way you will get a monitor app to work is to root and flash a custom rom

You need 3.1+ for most of the monitor apps to work, some even needs 3.2
