I have done the Nokia, SonyEricsson, Apple iPhone & now the Blackberry. So the next step is ANDROID right? Now I don't have a huge budget to go out and buy a Samsung Galaxy S (wish I could):(

Now I have come to the conclusion that I want to get a phone that is touch screen, but not a iPhone. The Samsung i900 is the financial alternative BUT it has Windows Mobile and I HATE:mad: WINDOZE anything.

Now I know this is not a original idea BUT at the time I thought it was a genius and I thought I was the 1st guy to think of it. NOT

So a little Google searching showed me that it can be done. Now I need to know who on the forum in Cape Town has done it successfully and HOW painful it was to do.

Any links tutorials etc. Will be appreciated and I am willing to pay someone to do it for me.

I just want a smart-phone with the looks and feel of the iPhone without being strapped to iTunes if I want to so anything.

From what I've read - the hardware specs on the i900 are too outdated for Android to run on it fully.
There's a project: andromnia, but it's not been updated since 21 Jan 2010.
And then Android is not doing much on there, only supporting sound over loudspeaker.
Not yet supported:
- CDMA/EVDO/3G, Bluetooth, GPS, Motion Sensor, Camera (back or front), Suspend Mode (1-2 hour battery life...) or Optical Mouse.

Also looking through xda developers forums, there's no activity regarding porting Android to the i900.
Looks like a bit of a dead end...

I was using the optimus one. You will be happy with it and costs only 2500. Android 2.2 ftw

LG Optimus might fit in your budget? Seems like a damn good phone for the price.

Running on 2.1 or at least upgradeable to it.
And the specs of the phone are not to shabby at all for it's price range. (R2k on gumtree, only one that I've seen)
Try carbonite as well - but I'm blocked from the office and too busy playing poker to go on with my SGS :p

Sounds like a PLAN. Can you tell me where I can procure this wonderful little device :D. MTNSP website does not even list it for comparison

Edit: I see that there are some available on BoB but only the GT540. As per GSM Arena it comes out with Andriod 1.2

If you could find a way to stretch to the Samsung Galaxy S, you would not regret it. But obviously the financial consideration is important ;)

I900 is horrible, touch input is more like hit it with a hammer :) i have one, and i have a galaxy S. Get the LG if your looking for a cheap android.
