According to the website there is a once off payment of R114 for sim and connection fees.
I'm gonna get it via Cell C's website, as you save the R114 SIM and connection fee, and get it delivered to you for free. There is no pay-in - they probably got a great deal with Samsung to clear their existing stock. Best deal for a great phone.
When I asked the call centre person what other packages the phone was available on, she said 'higher packages', but could not tell me what packages and at what rate. As always, pray that you get through to a competent, thinking person...
Only reason why I haven't got it yet, is I want to check if Makro has the same deal, as they usually give you a Makro voucher for certain deals. Will let you guys know if they do.

Pity it's on casual chat. Peak calls and sms's will inflate your monthly bill.

Yes, you're right, but I was more interested in getting the phone itself. My phone usage is such that I don't make much calls, use the phone to receive them (or work phone to make peak calls). As my family and friends are almost all on smartphones, I can use whatsapp for a lot of my messaging, and as for data and email, I will be using my 8ta 10GB bundle (at home) via the phone's wi-fi connectivity, and the corporate wi-fi at work. (I'm one of those rare animals who constantly carried over unused airtime on my now-deceased MTN Anytime 100 package).
