Also your 2 year old Xiaomi probably still gets software updates

I suspect its because:

1) 50% of the cost of that Xiaomi is not to recoup massive marketing budget
2) and another 25% to bribe the South Korean government

The screens are a bit touchy ...... mind you, instead of making snarky comments I should consider I have the Note 8 - same screen I think.

I have had two Samsung phones. The one has a USB port issue and won't charge and will cost in excess of R450 to repair. The other refuses to hold the operator and has been back to Samsung for updating, fixing, etc and still does not work.. So it is used as a car radio or dashcam. Personally, I will never buy any Samsung product ever again.

Which on a 4-6" display I don't really get. Most people have pc or laptop displays of a lower resolution. The higher res phone screens also chow more battery.

Well, the S8 and S8+ share the same screens as the S9 and S9+, so screen problems would be strange to suddenly appear now when there hasn't been any reports in all the time they were on sale.

I would have bought but only South Africa has not launched the S9+ in Coral Blue.

I used to watch movies using the VR, but not so much anymore as the resolution needs to be higher, it's not terrible but you can see the dot effect from the pixels as it is now.
