With this whole payout to apple, Wonder if this will affect samsungs r&d plans wrt tv's.. What u guys reckon?

I don't see how it would, they can pay Apple out of their profits easily, probably 3 weeks will do it
Samsung Group is worth more than Apple. As a company, Samsung Electronics makes half the profit of Apple (over $1 billion a month), so they're hardly going to have an issue paying the fine - if it comes to that.
Samsung Electronics alone is already worth more than Apple. The entire Samsung Group is several times larger.
LG makes them. Samsung doesn't even do IPS technology as far as I know, that's why they developed an alternative (S-PVA).

Don't think it'll affect them too much: they're paying the fine from their really big change jar.

LG made them in the past but Samsung makes the iPad3 screen

Well a TV is kind of a rectangle and we know how apple seems to be trying to patent shapes like wedge etc.
....just don't dare try and round off the corners of that rectangular TV....
Ah, didn't know they switched, thanks. But that article also says LG and Sharp started making them in April...
It makes the whole lolsuit thing all the more daft.
