6.0.1 & 1 June 2016. The patch might not be updated since I rooted my phone.

What is XFE firmwares, it's listed as South African and has the latest security patch but looks like I have XFA on my phone which hasn't been updated yet, is XFE ok to load?

You have a N910H!? Eish.

Okay so if I remember correctly this model is based on the N910C Exynos just with LTE removed. If I'm not mistaken they sold it in India to, and from past experience India tends to get updates quicker than us, if I remember correctly I used India ROMs on my Galaxy S4 I9500 Exynos.

So I'd say checkout a INU N910H ROM. If there aren't any maybe try a Kenya ROM.

I bought mine in from overseas, version SM-N910U (Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, Chile, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Fiji, Panama).

It's on 6.01, and security patch 1 March 2017

Which Note 4 version was supplied to South Africa ? was it the N910F ?

Wtf!!!!!
Thanks for the heads up, I just got the phone and assumed it would have LTE, my S4 from donkeys years ago had LTE. I was wondering why the internet was so dodgy, normally I get near full bars and blazing fast speeds at home... On LTE.

Why would they do such a ridiculous thing, apparently it has an LTE radio but it's disabled, anyone tried flashing different firmware to enable the LTE?

The weirder thing is it's an officially imported phone ICASA approved and supplied by Cell C.

Wake up call to remind me never assume anything when it comes to phone variations :(

I have no idea why Cell C brought it in, my assumption is that it's due to them not having wide LTE coverage back in 2014 when the phone arrived.

Vodacom brought the N910F Snapdragon with LTE-A and MTN brought the N910C Exynos with regular LTE.

Even with the S4, at first Voda brought the I9500 Exynos with no LTE and then later the I9505 Snapdragon with LTE.

With newer models all networks now seem to bring Exynos with LTE variants, which is great. :)

I do believe you are right that it has a LTE modem that is disabled, I know some guys at XDA were trying to unlock it and make it a N910C (or N910G I think), not sure if they were successful, I'd give XDA a look, you may just be able to get LTE on it. Be very careful though, don't brick the phone.

Had a look there now, it's possible but it's not a clean nor easy solution, only supports limited LTE bands and it's still a bit of a hack/fiddle, I don't have time for that bs. What a faq up!

Why not leave LTE enabled and it just doesn't get used if there are no towers?

Probably a money/profit thing, if they disable the LTE radio they pay less licensing fees to the chip manufacturer etc :( :(

It's was an absolute mess.

Prepare yourself,we will go through this same pain when 5G starts arriving, some variants will support it some won't and our networks will bring in the one that suits their profitability the most.

Same story when 3G was arriving, at least those days Nokia had the sense to name the phones accordingly and wouldn't allow multiple variants in a country.
