Hi guys,

have a quick question regarding playing 3D content on the Sammy. Basically, I have a PC running the display, and have a couple of 3D test files (in mkv format) that I would like to play around with. The PC is using an Intel DH67BL motherboard and onboard graphics. The board does support HDMI 1.4.

The PC is connected to the TV via an HDMI1.3 cable (dont know if this is a problem).

What software do I need to play back the files? do I need to enable any settings on the TV? which glasses do I need to get for this TV?

Thanks in advance for the replies :)

What software do I need to play back the files?

Depends on what format. Most stuff out there is SBS (Side-By-Side) which from the PC/player's perspective is just a normal 2D file, so any media player will do.
do I need to enable any settings on the TV?

For SBS you need to manually switch the TV to 3D mode (should be a dedicated button on your remote).
which glasses do I need to get for this TV?

Samsung (Bluetooth) ones, the cheapest being the (non-rechargable) SG3100 for ~R350 a pair, other rechargeable, lighter models get progressively move expensive.

ok awesome stuff Roman, thanks for the hints... got Stereoscopic Player, and once that was installed and the 3D mode enabled, all was perfect.. now just to dig up some glasses to test out how it looks... :D

so, got a loan pair of the SSG-3100 from Digital Experience, and WoW... works like a charm. was really impressed. Now the question stands of where to actually buy the glasses. Digital Experience is selling 2 pairs with a whole bunch of 3D discs for R1400, but given the fact that I dont have a BD player, this is a bit pointless. Where can I get them for ~R350 a pair?

Cheapest I have found on EBay was $25 including delivery for a model that is not available locally (SGS-3050), but they should be compatible.

Game has them for R400 each.
I got the starter kit with 2 pairs and all 4 Shrek movies in 3D from Sounds Great in East Rand Mall for R700.

Sounds Great also have the SSG-3050's for around R500 a pair if I remember correctly.

I remember testing a 3d tv once and there was alot of flicker, does this tv have that flicker in 3d mode?

The only time I noticed flicker was when the ambient light was high. So day time 3D watching is not recommended.

The flicker disappears completely in a dark room.

It also seems like the more expensive glasses (SSG-3050, SSG-3500) reduce the flickering during daytime.

What's flicker like when comparing 3D LCD vs 3D plasma?
Same, its the glasses that flicker not the screen.

Active 3D flicker is a subjective thing, I can watch a single 2hr movie, but then my eyes are tired. Some people can't handle it for 5min, depends on the person.
