I have a PS60e550 and I use Allshare to watch series / movies and I have a few questions, I can’t seem to find an accurate answer on the net hoping someone who understands codec’s can assist?

1. I have noticed that some series in MKV have onscreen preview while other formats (avi..etc) have the generic “play triangle”.

2. I have recently got some MKV movies (H264…??) 4-7 gig and when I select them (off my PC via DLNA) the TV responds with “The selected file is not supported” and the network connection crashes, I have to “reboot” the TV before I browse the after that.

Below an example of tech info...

Yip Serviio looks much better... but it still won't play my high quality MKV's?

Sorry cant play them, I can see first screen as a thumbnail but as soon as I select it i get "The selected file is currently not supported" ?

Based on the above I'd guess the file is being rejected for the audio (possibly bitrate). Try transcode down to DD5.1

Wouldn't Serviio auto transcode? I'm thinking it might be a network issue, if he is using wireless it may be that the file just times out.

Try PS3 Media Server, it has a built in Samsung AllShare profile, then in the settings untick "Keep DTS track"

It's the DTS soundtrack, Roman4604 called it, play the same file with USB and the DTS will work just fine.

Edit: Just wait till Plex releases a Plex Client for the E-series TV's then you're in for a real treat.
