Not sure if this have been handled. The search function on this forums suck.

Have any one used both of these and want to recommend which one to take? Need it for normal phoning and the reading of books while on the gautrain. Browsing and emailing is not too important.

Thanks

don't have either, but note has better specs (bigger screen resolution), so for reading books, i'd recommend the note...

don't have either. Have read up on both.

Putting other things aside-

how important is battery life? Can you live with a more bulky phone in exchange for better battery life?

i've read that a lot of people find the battery life on the SGSII is not that great(not even a day), but the Note has a few days.

SGSII the Note is just way too big for a phone. Reading on a backlit display sucks either way.

Don't know if I read wrong but I am sure someone here said they only get half a day out of their Note unless they only use it for calling...

I'm also a bit torn between the SGSII & the Note.... I do reckon most people will be happy either way though, both seem to be awesome phones.

there's approx 1000mA's difference with the Note being stronger(battery).
There's even been an article by a myBB writer.

I also recall an article about a phone not lasting a day....the SGSII. A few threads about it. Also a few threads about people looking for stronger batteries for their SGSII

The Note's battery is huge

If I were to choose I'd take the Note or the RAZR

1. Type what you're searching for in Google (or other browser) Search ;

2. Leave a space, as denoted by _ underscore in # 3 (i.e. take _ out of your search) ;

3. Copy/Paste _site:mybroadband.co.za/vb after the space.

They should put instructions like these somewhere prominent!

I am so sick and tired of people constantly complaining about the battery life of smartphones.

Yet it's ok if their laptops only lasts four hours, but somehow they expect their smartphones to last a week with heavy use. WTF?? Don't buy a smartphone if you want a weeks use out of it, cos you not gonna get it! Capiche?

Me thinks it's all these dumb phone users with a 2'' grayscale display that complains the most.

Oh, and I do get two days out of my Samsung Galaxy S2. Simply the best phone I've ever owned. :love:

Full agree...

Today I was using my phone very very heavily and by 3pm my battery was dead...I simply went to my car, got my spare battery and voila.

On days I dont use it that much I easily last until bed time. People should just learn to manage their phones and get the extended Samsung battery. It makes a small difference and you will have 2 batteries.

Back on topic...Imagine this. Lying in your bed using the phone with one hand. Well, its not really possible with the Note. Even with my SGS2 I struggle sometimes to touch the extreme corner. I think the Note is a little too big. I like the idea but it just isnt practical.

Or just plug in the charger, like you do with your laptop?

Agree with you, the Note should compliment your SGS2, and no be your main phone. Just too big.

I held one at a Samsung shop and thought it would be nice to read with or make notes in bed, but will definitely not take it with me to a party. :eek:

I left my charger at home...but yes. Plug it in. :)

Also remember, never over charge it, unplug it as soon as it's charged. Luckily the SGS2 makes a noise when fully charged.

I would certainly advise against leaving your phone charging all night, that will ruin the battery and at some stage you'll be crying and bitching on forums that your battery only lasts 3 hours and that it's the phone's fault.

Im too lazy. I just let it charge through the night.

I'll just get a new battery when that happens. A new battery is like R200. Not waking up to unplug my phone = priceless. :)

Thanks - that will help. Agree, they should put the instructions somewhere.

Thanks for al the feedback. Think I will pop into the store and hold both to get a feel for the size. But it looks like the SGS2 might be the winner. I am currently reading books on my Motorola Defy so the SGS2 should already be a difference.

The Note is definitely better (unless you have very small pockets). You can swop the display colours on apps like Kindle (so the background is black and the text white) looks great on the Note's superamoled (although the SII has a superamoled, the Note's larger size and far, far higher resolution are much better for reading). Although if you do quite a lot of reading a regular Kindle is really the best option.

The Note did have low battery life on release with software version 2.3.5 but with the last update from Samsung (which is available in SA through Kies) the problems are solved and mine lasts just over a day with heavy use.
