Does anyone know if MTN will drop the subscription price for the S3 in the next 3 months to something closer to R250?

Thanks

The S3 subscription price will only get cheaper if the other networks start a pricing war, or when the Galaxy S4 gets announced.

The S4 announcement will be in April/May 2013.

If you look at what they did with the S2 - after the S3 was released it was about R260 a month on the 200 contract. Only later was it put onto the 100 contract at R189

Thank you everyone.

Just one more question: I am "eligible to apply for an upgrade from 2013-03-21". How long can I wait before going for the upgrade?

Thanks

Uhhh... until 2013-03-21 would be my guess.

Sorry, let me rephrase: how long after that date can I wait before going for the upgrade? In other words: does the upgrade "expire" somehow?

No it does not. When the contract ends you will be billed the same amount and get the same data/airtime on a month to month basis until you cancel, migrate of upgrade.

Sorry to revive this thread but...

I see the S3 is now available for R329 pm x 24. According to the booklet, the price is valid until 16 May 2013. Does anyone know if the subscription price will drop further after the 16th?

Also, except for dropping itemized billing, is there anything else I can do to lower the monthly subscription fee?

Thank you

I would also like to know if the price will be coming down on the 16th. Surely they will need to compete with Cell C!

I hope it will come down. The S4 is in for R399, so I would have hoped the S3 could go to about R289. Also, I asked them if they can cancel the 200 SMS and 200Mb bundles to lower the subscription rate, and they bluntly refused.

I was told by MTN staff that the price came down recently so the next time it will come down is possibly in June. Will have to wait after the 16th to see what happens. The price for the S3 on top-up 100 is R309 that includes R100 airtime + 25 SMS + 150MB. Top-up 200 is R200 airtime + 25 SMS + 150MB. I am not a fan of the anytime package.

Wait a while longer because the prices will drop further.
The Galaxy range is becoming a little flooded in the market.
CellC awesome S4 offer will drive prices further down.
