My wife dropped her phone the other and it now has lovely cracks all over the screen. The screen is still fully responsive, it's just the cracks are irritating...

Best place to get it repaired? Some places are asking for R2500... I just laugh at them and then hang up!
 
Download ADH (accidental damage handling) from Play store

Oh, maybe i should mention that a) it's now out of warranty and b) she used up both her ADH claims already :p
 
Samsung centre will charge you R2310 to replace the screen. That's what they cost.
And that's why you have insurance, right?
 
Ok well there are options. But first you need to find out which screen is broken.
The phone has "3" screens. A digitizer (the thing that registers touches), a LCD (thing that gives picture and finally the glass (Sits right at the front to protect the other 2).

If the LCD and digitizer are both working fully and it is only the glass the repair should actually be very cheap. You can even buy just the glass for like R100 and do it yourself but it is very tricky and dangerous if you are not tech savy.
If the digitizer is broken as well the repair could be a few hundred. If the LCD is broken as well the repair is normally about R1600 and up. You can get cheap screen assemblies containing all 3 screens for about R1400 off bidorbuy and do it yourself. This process is fairly easy if you are technically minded and have the tools.

If it is just the glass you can perhaps ask Samsung for a price, it should be under R300 i would think and they can do it better then you can :)

You can try Procell as well, phone them and tell them which part is broken and needs replacing. If its the LCD it will still be very expensive.

As i mentioned, the phone is still fully functional so i assume it is just the glass that is cracked. Would Samsung even offer to do just the glass though? I imagine, like all manufacturers, they'd just replace the entire display panel.

No harm in asking though. Will go to the shops this weekend and ask :)
 
Awesome hope it helps. They may be lazy because replacing the glass requires melting glue etc. Quite a pain and you can easily shatter the digitizer doing it. But perhaps a third party repair store can help.

I know someone here who charges under 1k fro screen replacement + warranty
 
As mentioned above, find your local Pakistani repair shop and they'll replace the glass... Otherwise it does cost what you were quoted ;)

They're mostly Pakistani... At least the guy that did three phones for me :D. He did a good job... One was a battery for an iPhone, a Note 1 LCD and an S3 Glass
