Samsung S7 battery replacement

A replacement battery is R170 on takealot currently.
A self install might be worthwhile for some people.

Not sure if I want to take the chance as my S7 has all new internals from 20 months ago when Vodacom by mistake replaced everything instead of only just fixing the speaker.

I would at least source an original Samsung battery if you are going to go to all the effort, aftermarket batteries are so hit and miss. R170 is suspiciously low.

Fair point. I think i will just pay WeFix to do it, and maybe order a spare battery down the line for future repairs.

Just an update, I took my S7 to WeFix early July 2020, got it back a week later.

I don't use the phone all that often, but the battery life could be better I think, and once or twice it's drained itself very quickly without being used. I suppose it could just be an errant app causing some issue that I'm not aware of. Also a handful of times the display just goes dim and can't be made brighter, then i have to reboot the phone to resolve it. In hindsight I'm not sure it was worth getting fixed at such an expensive repair shop.

How much was it?

They charged what they quoted me back in in June 2020:

Did you come right, any suggestions?

For my Galaxy S7 (non edge) 3 months ago WeFix Canal Walk quoted me R1209 so long as it's the battery only that's the issue (the battery is swelling so I think that should be the only issue). 3 month warranty they said on an original Samsung battery. If it was a generic it would come with a longer warranty but they are not allowed to sell them as they are an official Samsung repairer they said.
