Brings back memories of the rip-off prices in the initial years of digital wrist watches. A battery that cost 25 cents wholesale was being sold for up to R50 by the jewellery and watch-repair shops.

Samsung smart centres in sandton and constantia kloof can help you. Think it's around 450- 600 last time I asked....

However my s7e also was not lasting anymore I tried to do a full wipe and then restored the phone it went back to it's out of box life.

Beware the fong kong batteries, they only last for 3 months. Try and get an original.

Anyone done a battery replacement recently on a S7/S8 that can update us on current prices?

I need to get my S8 battery plus replaced, the Samung Store in Rivonia is quoting R2500  Cellcinix in Melrose Arch Quoted R550.

Edit: Went to China Mall and got the battery replaced from one of the Pakistani stores for R250, let's see how long it lasts.....

Did you come right, any suggestions?

For my Galaxy S7 (non edge) 3 months ago WeFix Canal Walk quoted me R1209 so long as it's the battery only that's the issue (the battery is swelling so I think that should be the only issue). 3 month warranty they said on an original Samsung battery. If it was a generic it would come with a longer warranty but they are not allowed to sell them as they are an official Samsung repairer they said.

I was going to scout around more for a better price but then lockdown happened

Nope, unfortunately no luck.
But that price sounds right though for an original, worth it perhaps - the form factor on the S7 is awesome.

Still working fine.

Say what!

I'll buy the Pakistani guy's tempered glass protectors and covers but their batteries have always been absolute rubbish. How could they charge R250 to supply and fit, it's labour intensive just to open and close the S8?

Was the battery run time excellent when fitted and still in very respectable condition now?

Not sure, my wife uses the phone now and charges it once a day? Which is decent. Its always a lottery picking someone to fix your phone when you go to China mall.
