Samsung set to bounce back with new phablet

Can't believe the "phablet" term actually stuck. Do people actually call them that? I would never.

Bendable Screen?

I surely hope that Samsung for its own sake has a patent in place for it.

If it is not their idea I hope they are paying for the patent.

Nokia recently patented its own.

It’s the latest product to illustrate Samsung’s attempts to make bold design changes as it comes increasingly under pressure to differentiate its line-up from the iPhone, whose simple and large touchscreen-based design revolutionized the mobile industry and is still considered the gold standard of design.

In that case 2007 called .. they seriously want their small boxy design back.

I wonder who Apple is going to say Samsung copied the Note from since they have nothing in that particular format? At least not until some plank suddenly 'remembers' that Steve had mentioned 'considering' an in-between format at some stage. :D

Anyway, enough with the Apple bashing this is going to be an interesting product.

I like Apple stuff and respect the innovation they do do, and I also appreciate the individuals who are prepared to pay such a premium to support that world.

However it is great that Samsung has it's own niche in a different format, different OS and with a different roadmap. This is tremendous for innovation and they deserve to do really well with this.

Bounce back? 1 Billion dollars, even if they have to pay it, won't knock Samsung too much, it's just a fraction of the profit they make every quarter. I know they're doing better than ever actually, churning out new devices by the day.

Phablet is a pretty cool term IMO. Pretty much what I call phones bigger than 4.3", Galaxy Nexus etc. I think it's perfect for me, I have big hands, and the screen is larger while still fitting into my pocket. My girlfriend's hands are quite small so 4" is about the largest that's convenient for her.

Well aren't you lucky?
