I have been trying to call MTN to find out who knows about when the Samsung i600 will be available, but can't get any help from them. Do you know who I can contact to find out?

Yes it is approved. But Samsung will only start production end of April, due to issue which was picked up from somewhere else.

SGH-i600 available free on ProCall 120

I see that MTN SP has now added the SGH-i600 to their pricelist. Any idea when stock will be available?

Anyone got hold of this phone yet? I'd like to hear your comments as I think it'll be a winner.
 
Still no luck from MTN on the i600. Has anyone managed to get one from MTN yet? What is the status Pitbull, DD? I see VC is advertising availability at their stores and some of their guys already have the phone.

Got the i600 from MTN 1 Jun 07. Am impressed with it. Having trouble using it as a hsdpa modem - tried both mtn and samsung.

Anybody know how to do this?
 
Noticed that the i600 is only 1.8 Mbps, so won't be able to make use of 3.6Mbps which apparantly is coming later this year.

If youre connecting via bluetooth, go into the menu and look for internet sharing, its one of the easiest devices to connect as a modem to the PC. :)
 
Its not coming to south Africa. I asked, But you can go to the link below and do it yourself. I did it and it works perfectly. It does voide your warranty though. If you do do it, do not install the modem driver twice or you will find yourself in trouble like I did, but its easily fixable. Samsung people told me someone blew their mainboard trying to upgrade, but I dont think they were following instructions. Most South Africans have been able to do it fine.

anyone have an idea on how to load the original wm5? i did the european upgrade but want to do it with the proper SA one.
