Hi Guys

I'm looking at getting a 40inch LED Smart TV, either Samsung or LG. I have tried the Hisense "smart" TV which is advertised as a Roku device but they seemed to have dumb'd it down for Africa. I am looking at a smart TV as I do not want to connect an external media player. Main requirements:

Wifi
Stream from network drives
Stream netflix, hulu etc
under R7k

Anyone with experience with both systems, which would you recommend? I'm not particularly loyal to any brand provided it works well. Recommendations for a specific model?

Hi there,

I've only ever had a LG Smart TV. I changed the region location (via service menus), downloaded Netflix, hulu, bbc iplayer, etc. and everything is working well. I really can't complain. I've moved the Roku 3 I had hooked up to this tv initially to my bedroom as I no longer need - the LG covers it all. We're using the UB950T (UHD) and I'm more than happy with picture quality, response, etc.

Good luck!
