I need help here, I thought I could handle it all, but all these "SmartHub", "AllShare", "SamsungLink" words are making me dizzy.
I thought a thread would be good for questions & help, instead of spamming up the LCD bargains thread.

So my first question - What's the easiest way to share media over Wifi?

I've installed this Samsung Link software and it isn't really a Program, it's sort of web based, which sucks imo.
It also just throws together all my files into one share on the TV, are no Sub Folders allowed?!

There is another way it seems on the TV, it seems using Windows media player - but I don't know how to share, the TV gives me an error

Or do I install Plex as an app?

WTF, I'm sooooo lost it's not even funny... I should build a custom media centre again.

Install plex or xbmc
Even Nero media home works, but is a bit shyte

With the correct plugins for xbmc, it will sort through your media categorising it by genre, title, cast etc and download the poster for it too allowing you search through in many ways, including browsing the folders. The key is to have your folders organised before you add it as the media folder

I have 1 xbmc on my raspberry pi, which is plugged directly onto my TV. And on other one in my loft on my HP mini server which I stream from via WiFi

Upnp needs to be enabled on your router

Please keep in mind I'm pulling this off straight from the TV alone, no external players.
I've written guides for XBMC before so I know how it works - all metadata is downloaded, everything is sorted - I just need to get the damn samsung TV to load the folders :(

The Samsung link software does work, but it's a web-based thing on my PC, you need to register/share everything on their website, it's slow, and it dumps everything in one folder when I browse on the TV.
I just want my TV to access all my shared folders... sigh.

I'm installing the plex "App" on the TV, and installing the server.... I damn well hope this doesn't fsck up my XBMC metadata :erm:

Plex app on the TV and Plex Media Server on the PC.

Why would it affect your XBMC metadata?

Some apps do strange things with your media... iTunes being one of those.
I haven't used Plex much, so if it stores it's metadata in another place or keeps with the XBMC standard i'll be happy.

I seriously hope this plex works, the Samsung media sharing features really suck - I have no idea why they make it so complicated.

Plex keeps everything in a metadata folder, completely independent.

If you don't want all the amazingness that is Plex, and just want a DLNA server you could use Serviio.

Installed Plex, it works great.
Watched some Bluray, watched Avatar in 3D... very impressed with the Panel!

I uninstalled that crap SamsungLink software, as Plex even added everything in the SmartHub screen like I wanted.

For some reason 3D doesn't work when played from Plex, but works perfectly when launching from the SmartHub.
Wifi Streaming worked well - better than I expected! Some loading here and there on the Super Large MKV's but otherwise works great!

Now, can anyone share their Color/Contrast/Black settings? It looks amazing but I haven't really figured out the optimal settings as of yet.

It sucks that we have 2 options missing from the main SmartHub Screen though... stupid South Africa.

Which 2 options?
Also are you sure 3D doesn't work? Seen posts here that 3D was working via Plex. Not sure if it was off the Samsung Plex or a Roku :\

3D Works when played off the Plex server, but not through the Plex App - you must access it via the SmartHub. (I dunno, when pushing 3D it does the 2D>3D thing, it has no side-by-side format option)

The two screens I saw missing are the "OnTV" and the "Movie Rental" screens.
