Samsung smartphones will use AMD GPUs

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. will license its graphics designs to Samsung Electronics Co. for use in smartphones and tablets, taking its technology into a new market and helping differentiate products from the world’s biggest smartphone maker.

The agreement, which is limited to mobile devices where AMD hasn’t supplied chips, will be worth hundreds of millions of dollars in licensing revenue to the U.S. chipmaker.

This is massive.

AMD getting proper funding now to push research, hopefully, this puts pressure on Intel.

Intel wasn't supplying GPU architecture for smartphones were they?

AMD has already turned up the heat. The new 7nm Ryzen 3000 series look like to be quite a bit more powerful than anything Intel currently has in the general price range. They just need to either make better GPUs or drop the GPU prices a lot. And they don't keep losing CPU performance every few months when some major vulnerability is discovered and patched at the expense of performance, which is a nice bonus.

Additional income for AMD to push back into their chip research to take on intel. Is what I meant.

Give this woman a Bells. Lisa Su have taken AMD to new heights where previous CEO could not. She have vision. Now they can spend more on research and overtake NVIDIA
