Thanks. That will make my search a lot easier. Walking into a shop is just a waste.
I've just bought a LG C7 55-inch locally for R25k so I would imagine european pricing would be even better. The B7 should in theory be slightly cheaper as well we just never had many of them around here. It's $1500 odd on Amazon.
It's the best picture quality you can have because OLED isn't backlit and therefore much like plasma but even better can do pure black as each pixel can turn off.
You have the same risks with regards to image retention and glass panel with reflection, but since you are on a Plasma this probably should be the easier transition for you.
If you plan to use it in a super brightly lit room more of the time then the Samsung QLEDs are an option. It's an inferior technology for pure picture quality over OLED because of the backlighting but it supports local dimming (so areas of the backlight can turn off and therefore appear generally darker) instead just one static backlight across the entire screen.
However coming from a Plasma you'll probably be very disappointed with it for blacks never being black and actually being grey.
If you look at the QLED's then you might as well look at LG's Super UHD (Nano LED) tech which is the same but costs much less money. For my many irritations with Samsung that is probably where I would go.
On the flipside HiSense is punting a great many new TV's which we don't have in SA yet but might be an option over there but for not having seen them I can't comment. They are more than likely going to be ever so slightly inferior picture quality wise but would be doing so for much less money.
In that price range I don't think you can really buy a bad TV but it's rather an equation of good/better/best vs size.
