I need to buy a new TV. Last one I bought was back in 2007 a 50" plasma that cost me R27k. Sold it a few weeks ago for R2500. Had absolutely no problems with it in all that time.
I have a pretty good idea of what is considered poverty spec and high end when it comes to Samsung. 4 Series 65" for people that drive G7s and like to swing their dicks. 9(9xxx) Series for those that know what it is about, and anything inbetween depending on your budget.
I would be looking at 7000 and upwards, 55" because of the size limitation of the room. Samsung make some awesome units, but sometimes a Sony, Philips or LG would be available at a better price.
Question is, how do I compare what I know about Samsung, with the same models from other manufacturers? Would a Samsung 8xxx model have a compareable Sony 8x, or Philips 8xx and LG 8XXX? How does the models work. Google is not being very friendly at the moment.
