Im thinking of going back to (my beloved) Sony panels, and since the X is discontinued, im opting for a 46Z550.

But the LG SL90 caught my eye, but since i had sound problems with the Samsung, will it be worth the risk buying an LG ? Is LG a better brand than Samsung, or do they share the same boat ?

I like the new borderless LCD... think they all have their problems.

The LG Borderless design look very appealing, but I only bought Sony my entire life because of their reliability and uptil today, 3 of my 4 year old Sony LCD's are still working 100%. I bought the Series 8 , gave me (speaker) trouble, swopped it for Series 7 , same. The picture quality is very very nice no doubt but c'mon, brand new TV's giving me problems, dont think i can buy Samsung again.

Samsung Series 8 is quite expensive, why you relying on the TV for sound? I have a series 5 still - don't think I've ever used the speakers.

Yea I have a 46B650 Samsung and it's super awesome.

Agree with X though - why are relying on the TV for sound? No excuse for it not working though :/

Since i paid mega bucks for the TV, i dont expect the speakers to crackle when watching it. Imagine crackling vocals, it is not nice at all.

Samsung is a slightly better option than LG, the 8 series probably being better than anything than LG ever brought to the market.

You are right about Sony's X series though, it will always be the number one TV bar none as far as i'm concerned. Pity they are being discontinued. I'd still take the Z series above the LG or the samsung though, even though those are both better looking TV's.

What I'd actually (if I had the bucks) is get one of last year's X series 46"TV's. There are still a few floating about. The 46X450 would be my choice over the 46Z550 any day.

The X and Z series from Sony are both awesome TVs, we have the W series and the Vseries but when you watch the X or Z series you notice the improved picture....

I wont buy Samsung, I dont why, maybe coz their phones are crap... stupid reason I like their fridges though. Does Sony make fridges? Hmmm:p
And Samsung mis informing people about what an LED tv is...

Test:
Hmmmm:love::twisted::whistle::cry:

"none" meaning "Pioneer KURO" here ... :D

Sorry, couldn't resist

Okay. You are spot on there, shall add the proviso "number one LCD TV"

:D

Panasonic Viera whips Sony's as. :).

It's a plasma too.

I don't understand the love with Sony. They have a few good products, such as the XDCAM range of HD cams (of which I own one) but they are not as good in TV and other things, they're more about marketing hype. Sony Vaios can't stand up to Panasonic Let's Note notebooks - they are shoddy built compared to the best in class quality of Panasonic Let's Note, Bravia can't stand up to Viera etc. I don't see what the love is. In Japan Panasonic is a better brand - more reliable and more respected than Sony too. Also not forgetting the other golden Japanese brands - Hitachi, Sharp and Toshiba - both have excellent - series of products. My Hitachi HD plasma still whips the ... of any Bravia LCD out there. The Sharp ASV display in my Japanese market cell phone beats everything I've seen and it's a 2 year old device by now. I've also had Sony equipment fail on me, much sooner than Matsus-hita (Panasonic/National).

Could it be that people confuse Bravia with the discontinued Sony Qualia range?

People for picture quality - always go with a plasma. Now the king is Panasonic. Pioneer is discontinued. Next up will be OLED. LCoS, also an LCD beating tech is out the window.

From the research i have done (local and international), Samsung Series 8 Plasma is the king of Plasma.

I think you are too bias towards Panasonic and very much against Sony. Perhaps if you owned an Audio Visual store your word would have been 8/10,but because you are a consumer like almost all of us, in my books you lose credibility.

Have you actually seen the other LCD (LED lit) TV's out there ? Lets take the Toshiba range, they match the Plasma(s) in colour quality, but better in other aspects. I put the 46Z550 next to the Samsung Plasma though, and boy the Sony really does suck when they are next to each other :o ... but i still ordered one, why ? because Sony never lets 'ME' down, the brand gives me peace of mind.

I couldn't quite afford the X or Z Bravias - so I was looking at V and W.

I went into the shop planning on coming out with a Sony Bravia - and after a 30 minute pitch, comparing both Sony/Samsung I left with the Samsung.

As I say, it was the LCD and wasn't the X or Z, but I found the Samsung better than the equivilant Sony - especially when compared as a package.

All the sales people are punting the Samsungs, not sure why...
Sure the LEDs are better then some Sonys, but pricy.
Other Samsungs are 200Hz Trumotion, but for some reson I still dont want it.

I have a choice between a Samsung 32" LCD Full HD and a HD Ready Bravia 32"... im leaning towards the Bravia.
