Ok so I've been using this task killer to shut down apps, but what I don't get is why when I press the "Clear Memory" button in the RAM tab, apps don't get cleard from the Most Recent list... If they are there, does this mean they are still running?

The clear memory is to remove cached idle apps not active apps, you will see under the runnign tab at the bottom "show cached processes" those are the apps you are clearing.
Would make no sense for it to clear active apps.

Why clear memory? It doesn't really serve a purpose, android isn't windows

Was not really in the mood for going through that very long and detailed conversation as to how clearing memory is 1 of the most useless tasks on an android device and as its linux it actually works better at the lower end of the ram scale, clearing memory is only really useful if your using up more than 90% of your ram and then the problem is less that your using it and more that you have an app that's poorly coded and taking up too much resources.

Android devices are at their best performance at about 80 - 85% ram usage, means all your most used apps are nicely cached and ready to go and all those cached processes are ready to be removed if a new app need the memory. Cannot remember when last I used an app killer.

DON'T clear memory on Android!

Android runs very differently to your home PC. Killings apps and tasks will only slow your phone down and waste battery life. More free memory doesn't equal faster performance. Don't install battery saver apps either. Android is very efficient on how it handles applications in the background.

And other don't clear memory response.

I last used app killer widgets on my Froyo devices with 512MB RAM that I imported from China. Then it was necessary, but anymore.

And another yes for not clearing your phone's memory on Android!

On my Galaxy S2 I have never used any task killers, or battery saving modes.

Just leave Android to do its thing. ;)
