I was considering the XL2370 when I saw this massive 27" for R3500 at Incredible Connection.

Is this a facelift of the T260 and has anyone used this 27" monitor? Any thoughts on it?

The IC branch I was at was busy with rennovations so I couldn't see the monitor in action, but I was attracted to it simply because of its sheer size.

I will be using the monitor for mostly internet browsing, watching movies and gaming.

thankz for the replies guys

I had a look at all those suppliers provided, they are all out of CT, which means I would have to incur a delivery charge (around R150 I'm guessing) which would bump the advertised price up a bit and I would probably be able to get a better price (10% discount) from IC since I will be paying cash- and its walk in and I basically walk out with the monitor.

My main concern however is not the price across suppliers, but the value for money each monitor provides. From my little research I've gathered that the normal LCDs lifespan is much shorter than that of an LED and that the LED provides a better picture quality, however the 27" is bigger! so I'm not to sure which one to go for, quality or quantity

Well it's not like the life-span of an LCD is 2 years or anything so I don't think that should be much of a factor.
I personally would take the LED - newer technology, better quality and apparently better for your eyes :)

If your desk is big enough, go for the 27". Something I've noticed is that the bigger the monitor, the further away it should be for comfortable viewing/usage

I have the XL2370 and it's perfect for me.

If 23" is big enough for you then definitely go for the XL2370.

Otherwise, you'll just get it stretching out the more low res stuff at lower quality/vibrancy etc.

Even for HD stuff I say the LED is more "vibrant"

I have the P2370 which is the 23 inch version, and it's a GREAT monitor - best 60Hz LCD I've used.

aaaargh now I'm more confused

what makes it even more difficult is that both monitors are priced pretty much the same. My mind was pretty much made up on the XL2370 until I saw the 27" and then I started wondering again.

I'm going to see if I can arrange a demo of the 27" at IC and see if that helps.

Go for the 27". It's not a huge difference between the LED and LCD at those sizes.

Personally I would go for 2 x 24". Thats what I have done, and plan on getting a third later this month.

okay guys

I managed to get a good deal for the LED, so I'm going to go with that one. Hopefully I will get it tomorrow, if not then definitely Friday.

Will let you guys know how it goes.

I'm paying R2850.

My guy said he won't be able to get it today, so I'm hoping he will get it for me tomorrow. The cheapest price I could get in CT for the 27" was R3300.

After thinking about it I decided for the LED because the resolution on both monitors is the same, I would have probably tended to the 27" if its resolution was higher and had a 16:10 aspect ratio.

@ Grimspoor, if a pair of 24" monitors is preferred, why not go for two 27" monitors instead?

Because 2 27's would be R2000 more which means I can actually get 3 24's :)

okay guys, heres a pic of the monitor and how it fits onto my desktop

Initial impressions are good, I simply plugged it in and started using it and was quite impressed. Another friend of mine has one of those tuner things to set the monitor so after he has done that I will be able to gauge just how good this monitor really is.

Another friend will be purchasing the 27" so it will be interesting to see which one is better once both are optimised.

I feel rather dissapointed now. I regret buying this monitor.

I just found out there is a 27" LED available, so I want that.

I will be trying to sell this monitor and then buy that one.
