I am shopping for a Samsung T260 monitor.

The current best prices are Kalahari & Take2, i.e. both in Cape Town.

Neither has stock. Both say that the local (i.e. Cape Town) distributor has told them that the T260 has been discontinued, the 'replacement' being one of the 23" Samsung monitors.

However, a Johannesburg dealer told me that the T260 was freely available from several sources.

Does anyone have any idea of just what is going on

Many thanks ...

Incredible had a R3,000 special on the T260 about two months back. Currently Incredible are quoting one of the most expensive prices around - not unusual for Incredible :)

There are in fact at least three different versions of the T260 available locally: the T260, the SM-T260 and the LC-ST260. The last includes SPDIF & USB - I am not sure if the others do, since the specs published by each website differ vastly <sigh>

The price variance between the cheapest and most expensive models is around R200.

I spoke to Samsung.

Seems that the current T260 has reached its end-of-life, and so has been discontinued.

A replacement has yet to be announced.

Tried incredibles site checkout for the T260. The price jumped back to R3999.95.
I know their website doesn't always load but thats a bit meh.

I wouldn't trust the site. If it's in the papers, then go with that.

1. Go to Incredible's home page https://www.incredible.co.za/home.aspx
2. Select Monitors (under Hardware)
3. The T260 is the first monitor, top-left, at R2,999.95

I also found that the URL crashed. Seems their programmers haven't heard of exception handling ... :(

Samsung has a 27" & 26" monitor out in the Asian markets.

2693HM
275T+

Probably not direct replacements for the T260.

The 2693HM is available locally: the price is in the R5,500+ range.

It's mainly for home entertainment e.g. has built-in speakers, VESA wall mounts etc

The stand height is adjustable, though the reviews still complain about the flimsiness of the stand.

The rest of the specs are the same as the T260

2693HM is R5300. Definitely more home entertainment stuff considering it's 1920x1080 and not 1920x1200 which I'd expect from something that big.

T260 is still listed with some suppliers ranging from R3500-R3700. I can check tomorrow if they actually have stock. I noticed Rectron has removed it from their price list.

Just got mine from IC for R2999. Awesome monitor. One thing though, out of the box it's too bright, well at least in my opinion. I'm still struggling to get the right settings.

Run the MagicTune software it came with as it will calibrate it for you as close as you could get it with the naked eye.

My monitor is not listed as a compatible model but it came with the software and it works so maybe just check wrt the T260.

Thanks ponder.. I actually tried to install the one that came on the CD with the monitor, but didn't work (the app just didnt load, maybe because of win 64 bit). So I followed your link and downloaded the latest version. Now it's working.. got it looking much better now... thanks !!
