Hi there

I need a new GPS in the car.
Now I can go the old method and get myself the latest and greatest TomTom or Garmin or what ever is on the market or get a small size tab that can be loaded with WAZE or something similar.

The cost seems to be on par with any mid range GPS unit on the market currently.

With the tab you always have the updated maps and live traffic what you normally have to pay with the alternative method of devices.

I was playing around with WAZE on my ipad and iphone and thought it would be great, but the Ipad is too big and clunky and the iphone to small and cant be kept in the car permanent to work as a GPS unit.

So I was looking at the Ipad mini but I still think it is a bit to big.

I recently saw the Samsung Tab 4 7.0".
It seems to be a bit smaller than the ipad mini an that will serve me for what I need to do.

It will be mostly used for a GPS module and occasional be used for videos and normal social media but nothing hectic.

Does anybody have one of these and what is your thoughts will it be good enough for GPS navigation and social media now and then?

It will work, but the Tab range from Samsung is their bottom of the run range and generally aren't brilliant especially for the price, if you want one for GPS maybe look at the Lenovo A3000 it's only 2k.

Get yourself a Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Might find one on Gumtree.

It still fits in the Samsung window clamp bracket.

Check out the Nexus 7 too... There's a 2013 unit for sale in the classifieds :) I might be willing to sell my 2012 unit if I get a decent offer... Running TomTom on it and it's really nice :)

Absolutely shameless!! :erm:

There is another thread about this. Basically if you buy the Tab 4 you are either a Samsung fan or uninformed. It is way overpriced and there are much better devices out there (some of which go for R1000 less).
