Hi all

I bought a Samsung 49RU7100 TV and HW-N400 soundbar. I tried using the HDMI connection but I've been having some issues.

When I select the sound source, the HDMI option is visible and I am able to select it. However, after a few seconds, the source just defaults back to the TV speakers.

When connecting via bluetooth it works fine.

Has anyone encountered this issue?

It's less than a week old, so if it persists, then I'd probably take it back

Thanks in advance

Does your TV support Arc? Assuming yes... Only one hdmi port will support this, normally hdmi 2. Have you connected the soundbar to hdmi 2?

Hmmmm you are asking the big questions now.

Haven't really looked at this since I thought that the setup would be fairly easy.

I'll have to check when I get home.

Thanks for your assistance. Will let you know if it worked

I have a much older model but I have found that I have to use a fibre optic toslink cable together with my HDMI cable plugged in the ARC port. This method worked for some reason and I just left it like that and it's been working for quite sometime now. Something you might want to look into.

I have an LG TV and a JBL soundbar.
Connected it via HDMI (ARC connection) and there was a noticeable delay where the sound would follow about 1 second after the action on the TV.
Then tried connecting via Bluetooth which resolved the sound delay but having to choose Bluetooth every time you switched the TV on was a total PITA.
Ended up using the optical cable connection - has worked 100% with no sound lag for months now :-)

I don't mind using the Bluetooth or optical port, but if there is an issue with the HDMI connection, I would like to sort it out.

Down the line when I want to sell the thing, I don't want any issues.

The Digital Optical port should always be your first choice , everything else secondary.

Down the line when you need to sell, the TV is worth shyte anyway.

Hi all

Fixed it. The source was incorrect. I put it on HDMI, when it was supposed to be D IN.

Silly mistake, I know.

Thanks for all the advice
