I have a Samsung ES8000 series 55 inch TV which I had purchased in 2012. A month ago vertical lines started appearing in the centre of the screen. Ghost lines is the best description. I have changed sources and reset the TV. That did not help. I eventually contacted Samsung support and they sent out a technician.

The technician reckons it is the panel which is giving issues. Received a quote yesterday to replace the panel. R17500!! Holy cow. What do you guys reckon? Should I get it replaced? Or deal with it and carry watching TV.

I will ask my tv repair friend.
When flat panels brake they are expensive.
Suppliers don't repair, just replace. I doubt if they have any modules of your model.By now it will be a Hisense or something tv with your board from 2012 as a new TV.

Thanks Robertvv.

Samsung (old models) have the vertical driver board below the screen, the new one is on top. So any moisture that reach the screen goes down and eat the board below (acid). You can try and clean this board (but be very careful.)

What do you recommend I do? Remove the back panel?

First, watch you tube, then open and try to clean pc board of possible bad things. Very careful, you can easily destroy it
