I've just recently bought the Samsung 5 series 40" LED TV, details:

I wanted to know if it's compulsory to use the official Samsung wireless adapter:
http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs-accessories/WIS09ABGNX/XAA
Or if you can simply use a generic wireless adapter. I'm guessing there's some sort of built-in functionality to support the Samsung stick without any drivers or anything, but I'm not sure if you can even download drivers in general to the TV? (similar question applies to downloading of video codecs, as I cannot play some .avi files)
I will be getting a wireless router soon to use with my PC / DSL, and the idea is to be able to watch videos etc off the network instead of transferring them over to an external HDD and then plugging that into the TV. And also to reduce the amount of cables being used :3
