Samsung Video Hub .pyv file

SO last night while playing with my wife's new S3 mini is noticed that she had a voucher to download one movie for free from Samsung Video Hub.

I chose a video and downloaded it, but now it is in .pyv format.

It seems like it is some MS DRM nonsense and can only be played on the original device, the S3 mini. No way am I watching a whole movie on that tiny screen!

Is there a way to get around the DRM so that I can watch this on a PC? It seems this extension is so rarely used that even Google turned up blank this time.

nope, had the same issue a few weeks ago. downloaded the new batman movie and can only watch it on the phone. the licence links the media to that particular device / set of devices if you use all share.

I can't get any help on Google as well. There is a few movies I wanted to buy, but now they can keep it. I'm not going to buy a collection only to use on a phone, that is just stupid.

Microsoft Silverlight player will play some .pyv files. You may want to try it, but not guaranteed to work...

Does not work unfortunately, seems like I'm doomed to watch the movie on that tiny screen.

Have you tried Samsung AllShare Play. Once installed on your PC and registered using the same Samsung account you used on video hub, you should be able to stream it to the PC from your phone using your wireless network

I tried almost every means to watch a downloaded .pyv movie on a bigger screen without success. The downloaded .pyv movie was saved under a hidden folder in my Galaxy S4. I located and copied the hidden .pyv document to a USB drive and tried to play it on a Samsung Tablet (Note 8). It didn't work. Allshare also didn't work. My PC and tablet could locate other video clips stored in my Galaxy S4 but could not locate the .pyv movie.

I guess the only way to watch the downloaded pyv movie on a large screen is to use a HDMI adaptor or the Samsung Allshare Cast wireless Hub, or to buy a Samsung smart TV which has the Allshare Cast built-in.
