Samsung vs Apple

Good read, I hope what Samsung says in the article is all true and they take apple down

YES!!! I like this article and I agree fully. Samsung's just oozing new ideas/innovation. They just need better software developers. Compact cameras with Wi-Fi easily available and affordable = one example. Look at the new WB850F and the EX2F (F=1.4) cameras (with apps for Android to access/control cameras remotely). Look at TV's and .... whatever. But when Apple brings something to market it - according to them - it is always "a/the first". Apple are marketing and manufacturing chain control geniuses. They are very good at making a product desirable. The know their industrial design stuff (Ives = the best). But they are not the innovators they like the world to believe they are. They turn the ideas of others into excellent products, for sure. But they must then play fair and pay the patent owners of those ideas their fair due ... and that is what they - as bullies - will not do.

All that said, only Apple managed to take a tablet idea (that others had long ago apparently) and turn it into the king of tablets ... the iPad. Having a good idea is only the beginning. Turning it into a winning product is a very different story. Why I hate patent trolls that make money out of ideas without ever turning it into successful products.

I did that exact thing for a few months (iPad 2 + SGT10.1) but in the end one can only live with one and must choose. So I gave the iPad 2 to my wife. The SGT slowly but surely took over as I started to appreciate the Android way and enjoyed the freedom. Got a USB hub + multi card reader for my SGT yesterday ... can connect to three USB devices, SD, micro SD, MS and M2. When one must choose one device the most practical one wins.

The ability to connect things up and move stuff around anywhere at any time is important to me. I hate it when I want to get something onto my tablet and I can't because I need to connect to a PC first or it won't read a USB or SD card. Data cannot always move through the cloud, especially not large photos/files.

So true!

I had an iPhone 3G, but swapped it for a Galaxy Ace, simply because I can sync my contacts via wifi with the phone, instead of having to use that horrible software, called itunes.

The other nice thing about an Android phone is that I don't need anyone's permission to "activate" my phone. It just works, with or without a Google account.

Live free.

Oh my... This are going to get interesting indeed.

Just bought myself an iPad2 64GB 3G. Going to sit nicely next to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 :D
Nice, not New iPad nice, but still nice. :)

I had an iPad2 16GB WiFi and sold it cause I preferred my SGT10.1. I even forced myself to use the iPad to get used to it - but failed.

I bought another one cause of some photography app the wife saw on Revision 3 Internet TV and went all moggy over it. iPad only though. Plus there are a few games I would like access to on the iPad. So I think there will be a bit of use for it.

On the flip side, hopefully got a Nexus 7 on the way next week. That I am looking forward to :D

From the GSM Arena article: " One last and rather damning piece of evidence against Samsung is a document that says that in seven out of the thirty Best Buy stores that Samsung surveyed, the main reason for returning Samsung's tablets was that people bought them thinking they were iPads, thus proving Apple's original point for suing Samsung."

What a load of bollocks. The thing comes in a frikkin box that clearly states what is in it. If it states "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" all over the box then it is NOT an iPad. Stupid people ... no cure for that unfortunately.

If you need apps only available on iPad then that is a valid reason to get one. For photography iPad is king for sure. Fortunately I have Photoshop (PS Touch) on my SGT to do most things, and my wife's iPad is around for Filterstorm and Snapseed.

I thought about it, but iOS is iOS. Does the same stuff whether 2 or 3. To pay nearly double what I paid for better screen did not justify it. Especially when the GST10.1 will remain my go to tab.

But ye - looking forward to some Red Alert action on it :D

For photography and creative use isn't the retina screen actually exactly the reason to get the new iPad and not the iPad 2?
