Good day lads.
Can someone pls give me (or point me to a site with a decent explanation) of how a corporate SAN, will make its disk space available to desktops and more specifically servers in that environment? I'm sure different hardware vendors use their own software to manage this and there are heaps of different systems, but there must be a few basic guidelines that are universal?
Basically speaking Network storage device A with IP 10.0.0.1 has 5TB available storage. Windows server 10.1.1.2 has a "D" drive showing in its my computer which is actually space allocated on the SAN but it doesn't show up as a mapped or network drive.
How does this work? What happens on the san and what happens on the server?
Cheers
